Keiran Harvey has been awarded a £2500 cash grant by O2 Think Big to support The Youth Radio Network Project.  The award package also includes a generous program of training, support and mentoring from O2 gurus. The O2 Think Big award will allow Keiran to make the network and lift the project off the Ground!

“Our main objective is to set up a youth internet radio station called ‘Youth Radio Network’. Youth Radio Network shall be to set up as a youth internet radio station. Youth Radio Network is to be a place young people can easily access so that they too can develop their skills and interests. What makes ‘The Youth Radio Network’ (YRN) different is that young people can broadcast from their own homes with just a Laptop/PC and a WIFI Connection! It will also act as a sound board for youth news and issues and promote all youth organizations. It also opens up many doors for young people into the broadcasting industries.  The music focus will be current chart hits. As we build up a listener base they will hopefully influence the music we play. It would be great to have the station as interactive as possible. Youth Radio Network’s focus will be on young people, and Topical issues such as Bullying, Racism, LGBT and many more. The music output will be current chart music, as well as playing any young artists/bands from across the world. The aim is to have it sounding fresh and upbeat and something that young people feel; they can get involved in. We will also showcase any young musicians or artists or bands through this. After all it’s the internet and you never know who may be discovered next.”

The Youth Radio Network have released the dates where test broadcasts will be sent out via the network from week commencing 4th Of July 2016. All being well we will be holding an online Lunch Meeting on Tuesday 19th Of July 2016 From 12pm – 2:15pm. This web launch is for anyone to join and listen to the presentation that the project leaders will be holding, there will also be a question and answers time. The biggest part of the Public Web Launch is that at 2pm the Station will be going Live on air broadcasting 24hrs a Day 365 days a year nonstop! The idea is to have a countdown ten at 1:59:50pm and as soon as the clock hits 2pm the station will be live. All members of the public are welcome and this is a FREE event that you can attend in your own home via the internet. Once again this is all thanks to the amazing hard work and planning of the project leaders and O2 Think Big for funding the program. Think Big has been developed in partnership with one of the UK’s leading youth charities, National Youth Agency as well as support from Young Rewired State. Funded by the Telefonica Foundation, by the end of 2015, Think Big aims to support 5,000 young people to lead community projects across the UK. Tracey Herald, Head of Community at O2, said: “Over the last 5 years, O2’s Think Big program has given young people the chance to build their skills and confidence, and show them that with some drive and determination, and the right opportunity, they can unlock their talent and potential.
